I have been working at the SRI office in Prague as a volunteer since mid September. I applied through the Leonardo Da Vinci program; and more specifically European Training Services, after graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Politics with International Relations. I was telephone interviewed and invited for a face-to-face interview, and was subsequently selected based on past experience, language skills and future goals and ambitions.
I have always admired NGO’s for their hard work and genuine dedication to the pursuit of a better world for all to live in, from both a human and environmental perspective. I have taken part in a substantial amount of voluntary work up to date, including missionary work in Kenya, Zambia and Congo, as well as work for Cancer Research UK.
Sue Ryder International particularly appealed to me due to its combination of local and international work and the varied role within it. The tasks I have been involved in since I began my role have been vast, varied and interesting; and allowed me to learn a great deal about how the company works, which has been a privilege. Graduates from other EU member states can also apply through the same organisation to take part voluntary work.
