CONCLUSIONS FROM SRI INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE
PRAGUE 2010
The Sue Ryder International Conference in Prague in September 2010
was a success on many levels. Lessons and experiences were shared,
with the common conclusions being drawn as the following;
The ability to demonstrate and assess goals, outcomes and relevant
lessons from an organisation’s activities is important for development
practice.
Trusting, transparent and respectful relationships with partners,
government and societies based on mutual ideas of respect
development goals and strategies are crucial for development
effectiveness to prevail. Honesty and transparency within the
governance of organisations is fundamental to development
effectiveness. Frequent communication between all partners is crucial.
The most common goals between the organizations were as follows;
more communication with sister organizations, improved prospects for
fundraising, increasing the level of public funding and relationship with
respective governments, money must be spent wisely to increase and
ensure efficiency.
It is important to gain the trust and cooperation of the public, and in turn
providing the organisations with a route to long-lasting stability and
effectiveness.
