Why Sue Ryder International CZ?
Sue Ryder International (SRI) is an informal network of independent not-for-profit organisations delivering specialised health and social care for those in greatest need across several countries in Europe and Africa. SRI takes its name and inspiration from the life and work of its founder Sue Ryder (later Baroness Ryder of Warsaw) who pioneered the development of health and social care services across Europe in the years following World War II and until her death in 2000.
After the Czech based 'Domov Sue Ryder' had been established (please refer to a separate Fact Sheet), it gradually became involved in international activities, it soon became clear that a separate legal body dedicated to international work would bring many advantages.
In accordance with the legacy of their ideological founder, Lady Sue Ryder, the UK based Sue Ryder Care and the Domov Sue Ryder, o.p.s. based in the Czech Republic organizations decided jointly to form a public benefit organization, Sue Ryder International CZ (SRI CZ). This organization was registered in 2007 and since then it has been working closely with other Sue Ryder organizations principally in Europe and also in Africa.
Our mission
To support member organisations to shape national health and social care policies, deliver effective programmes of care, and stimulate the evolution of health and social care in developing countries.
Who do we help?
SRI CZ supports SRI network members in developing their capacities in relation to independent project and budget management, lobbying their national governments and entering wider regional and international partnerships to increase fundraising, exchange knowledge and expertise and plan future closer cooperation. SRI works in partnership with governments, the public and the private sector.
